AMY BURNETT - Founder, Director

Amy began serving as co-director of the Austin Lady Magic in the winter of 2003. Her desire to promote the sport of basketball for serious female athletes led her to the Lady Magic. Amy's basketball background includes playing Division I basketball at the University of Wyoming and spending two years as an assistant at Division II level.

While at the University of Wyoming, Amy earned many honors including twice being named WAC Player of the Year, KODAK Division I All-American, Wyoming Woman of the Year, GTE Academic All-American, NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Award, and numerous individual records. Amy was inducted into the University of Wyoming Hall of Fame in September of 2000 and the Huron (SD) Hall of Fame in September of 2001.

Amy was an all-around athlete at Huron High School in Huron, SD. Amy received many individual accolades in high school including being named South Dakota Miss Basketball in 1990. Burnett was the leading scorer on her 1989 state championship team and set numerous school and state records. Amy was also named All-State in volleyball and won both the shot and discus competitions at the 1991 State Track Meet.

Amy graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1996 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She then spent two years as an assistant coach at Division II Angelo State University while earning an M.S. degree in Kinesiology.

Amy has worked a number of basketball camps during the summer and also provides private training lessons for girls in the Austin area. Amy is currently employed by the Round Rock Independent School District.
